I just found out last week that there's a new course in Royston. I've been playing out there for the last several evenings. Just wondering if John had anything to do with this course? I haven't thrown any discs for the last couple of years, but I think I'm getting the bug again. Has anyone played this course? All it needs is some tee pads. Clay

Don't know about Royston, but glad to hear you're playing. This year's series in Toccoa is on Wednesday nights.

The boys and I drove to Royston Friday night, just in time to catch Clay Martin warming up at the practice basket, which was fortunate for us, because the spray painted tee pads have been rained on and mowed a few times and are very hard to find. He has been playing some there for the last few weeks and showed us where the tee pads are supposed to be. Except for the tee pad situation, the course is pretty good and has a lot of potential. Clay said they are planning to put in moveable tee pads sometime soon. I'm assuming that will be the rubber tee pads.

All holes will have 2 tee pads and 2 pin positions and their made out of a recycled rubber material that is made up of hexacomb squares that you put toghether and then is filled up with granite dust.Jared wanted this in case of them being moved around later. They have some at his park in Oconne county ( Herman Michael ) and they work great.

Tee pads are in at Royston. The city used a lot of granite dust so on some holes, so you have to brush some away, but the pads are there.I beleive Jared said the short tee pads are all around 180 ft.The long ones are: #1=350' #2=410 #3=400 #4=250 #5=240 #6=300 #7=250 #8=300 #9=400, mando on the trees to the right. Might be a little off on yardages, but very close , ENJOY!

Hello to all. It has been a while since I was on this site. How cool, you guys are talking about our new course! It is true I designed this fun little 9 hole Rec course. I had some input from my friend James B. - possibly the only other disc golfer in Royston. The tee pads are not satisfactory for me yet but will be soon. The City of Royston didn't finish the job on the install then came the monsoon of 3 inches of rain in an hour. So we have had some time with the tee pads. Signs & directional arrows should go in next week as well as these tee pad repairs. It needs to be done then because we are hosting a Day of Disc Golf next Saturday 8/20/11. Russell from Innova will be here to help with demos door prizes etc. Come play a round and help us introduce this sport to the community of Royston. We have a nice park! Its a 43 acre Wellness Park. Therewas plenty of room for 18+ holes BUT we had to stay within the master plan for future pavilions, amphitheater etc. so 9 holes is what we got. However, there are ALT pin locations for us to mix it up a little. I will post details in a Day of Disc Golf topic. Jared HT
