The following are my own ideas, "reality therapy", ideas from Louis Carry, and the word of God.
Soul = our mind, will, and emotions.
Our eyes and ears are directly connected to our soul. What we see and hear, even what we are telling ourselves in self-talk, has a direct impact on us positively or negatively. Our mind is affected, which leads to a good or bad decision, which at the end of the day affects our emotions.
When we start our thoughts with the Lord and his word we are lead by His Spirit. Having an understanding of what His will for our life is agrees or disagrees with our spirit. 1 John 1:20 "But you have an anointing form the Holy One and each one of you knows the truth." 2 Thess 2 : 10 " They perished because they refused to love the truth and so be saved." We know the truth because we know the Son; therefore, we should love what is true and any truth that is spoken to is will agree with our spirit.
Bad fruit must be pruned and we should seek to have it pruned as such maintenance promotes new growth.
We all have three areas of need love, acceptance, and forgiveness. For those of us that struggle with control issues, we have no control over others and their individual right to extend love, acceptance, and forgiveness.
In response, our thoughts should be prayerfully influenced motivating us to bring glory to God. (Romans 14:23) "everything that does not come from faith is sin." We have to start with prayer about everything, so that we can know we are led by the Spirit of the Lord. What are we looking at, what are we listening to? If the answer is not Christ in us then we can expect bad decisions which result in inevitable pain and delay. We know the truth according to 1 John 1:20, and we should love the truth inviting its unchangeable consistency into our broken lives.
Truth leads to Confession - Humility - Repentance =ing Change - Freedom - Faith
Praise Him
